Chas Ohlmeyer is a therapist and neuropsychiatrist who runs an office out of the seventh floor of the Miglin-Beitler Skyneedle in downtown Chicago. Ohlmeyer has been Simon Lynch's therapist since 1991, but, on February 1, 1999, Ohlmeyer discovered that Simon was a far from ordinary autistic when he learned of the boy's first chaos seizure from Scott and Katharine Smith, Simon's foster parents. Despite his twenty-plus years of experience and education, even Ohlmeyer was baffled as to what was afflicting Simon and had caused his seizure. On February 13, Ohlmeyer was debriefed as to the events of June 1998, and just what had happened to Simon - that the original MERCURY code had essentially 're-written' massive portions of the boy's brain.
