Connect Four is a two-player game in which red and yellow checker-like pieces are dropped straight down into a hollow 6x7 vertical grid, which is usually blue. The objective of the game is for the player to connect four of their pieces vertically, horizontally, or diagonally before their opponent. Simon Lynch owns a set, and was playing with it by himself in his room at home on June 7, 1998, when his parents Martin and Jenny Lynch were killed by Peter Burrell, and was again seen playing it by Art Jeffries in Simon's room at their apartment on March 8, 1999, three days after Scott and Katharine Smith were killed when the Chicago Span of the Lake Michigan Overpass was bombed.
